Parents & Volunteers

Over the past months we have been planning and preparing to kick off a new venue for our K-6th grades called 2:52. It is based on the Luke 2:52 scripture- “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men.” Each month we will study a character trait or virtue which will correspond to Bible stories and scripture. It is our desire that children will learn three basic truths as we journey through these three years of curriculum.

  1. I need to make a wise choice!
  2. I can trust God no matter what!
  3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated!

Love Kids? Get Involved!

We believe the best way for Parents to be involved in what their child is learning at Gateway is to become a part of the team that is teaching your child. Each week we have a team of volunteers who do everything from greet families, to teaching Bible stories and leading children in Praise and Worship.

We must verify your criminal history. Your children’s security is our biggest priority. Every one of our volunteers must turn in a background check in order to enter into training. You may download the form here.

Training is a must for all volunteers.We provide quarterly leadership training for all volunteers who serve in our Preschool or Kids’ ministries. Each week provides ongoing “hands-on” training.

Gateway Parents The following will be our schedule: (Will begin PROMPTLY at 11:00 and end at 12:10)
“Plug-In” – Introduces the character trait and Bible verse in small group. (15 minutes)
“Power-Up” – Large group worship and Bible Study. We will have Drama, Video, music, etc. on our newly constructed stage, using our new technology in our Fellowship Room in the Children’s area! (30 minutes).
“Catch-On” – this will be our application time in small groups called “Huddles” in individual classrooms. (30 minutes)

Because each aspect of the lesson is so VERY IMPORTANT, we are asking you to do some things that will be beneficial to all!

  1. Arrive on time! (11a.m.) Each part is important and you don’t want to miss out!
  2. Bring your Bible and your friends!!
  3. There will be a time of offering during the “Power-Up” which is our worship time. You will want to bring your offering and be ready to give during this time.
  4. Parents, if you need to speak to our teachers, please feel free to do so after class. Otherwise they will be engaged in teaching for the full 1 hour and 10 minutes that is required to use our new curriculum effectively.
  5. WE NEED MORE HELP!!!

All children will need to be signed in by their parents each week at the welcome center.

Picking Up

We will have Team Leaders who will dismiss children to their parents each week in order to eliminate congestion in the children’s area. Parents will need to gather in the entry hall of the children’s area and their child will be released by team leaders. This procedure is for the safety of your child, and your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated!
