WHAT IS A PRETEEN??????
Preteens are NOT youth.
Preteens are NOT children.
Preteens are, well, PRETEENS! They are their own category.
At Gateway, we believe that Preteens need a place just for them, a place to fit in, a place where they find affirmation and approval, a place where they know they are loved for who they are!
Preteens are leaving behind their childhood and moving toward being a teenager , and It’s an exciting time!
Preteen Ministry for our 5th-6th grade students is an opportunity to give the firm faith foundation that each child needs to launch into the next stage of their lives – YOUTH and becoming a Teenager.
Our goals for the Preteens in our Ministry are simple…..
- We want to celebrate the uniqueness of each preteen
- We want to connect with preteens and their parents to help them grow.
- We want preteens to become followers of Christ.
- We want preteens to learn how to have powerful prayer lives and a more God-focused worship.
- We want preteens to see Church and God as a “relationship” and not as a religion
- We want preteens to know that they can impact their world for CHRIST!
Through active learning experiences, life-changing service projects and effective discipleship , your preteen will discover the answers that they need as the Holy Spirit reveals truth to them.

Parents of Preteens
We prefer to not release children grades 5th and 6th from Sunday School without a parent. However, if you want your child to be released without an adult, we must have a Child Release Form on file in the Children’s Ministry office. Please know that your child’s safety is of utmost importance to us. Feel free to contact the Children’s Ministry Office if you have any questions or concerns.
