Discover Your Destiny…Like Rebekah

“‘Drink, my Lord,’ she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, ‘I’ll draw water for your camels too…’” Genesis 24:18-19

Many see this story as a beautiful picture of how God the Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit work together in seeking a bride — the church. Abraham represents God the Father, Isaac represents Jesus, and the servant is like the Holy Spirit guiding the search.

In this story, the servant was looking for a bride for Isaac who showed a heart of generosity. Rebekah’s natural beauty and strength were evident, but what truly marked her as the chosen one was her spirit of giving. She willingly gave her own water to the servant and then generously offered to water his camels, an act that might take hours.

Rebekah’s generosity was more than a simple favor—it reflected a heart ready to bless others sacrificially. The Holy Spirit works similarly today, watching for those who respond with a generous heart. When you are willing to give, even beyond your own needs, the Spirit reveals God’s plan and riches to you.

Just as Rebekah gave from what was hers, the Holy Spirit invites us to give freely—not just money, but our time, love, and service—to bless others and further God’s kingdom.

Reflection Question:

What is one way the Holy Spirit might be prompting you to give more generously—whether of your time, resources, or love—and how will you respond?

Prayer Focus:

Pray that our church will cultivate a generous spirit that goes beyond the ordinary. Ask God to nurture in you a heart eager to give in all areas of life. Pray for friends or family members who find generosity challenging, that God would open their hearts.
