Day 27

Day 27 | October 20

Day Twenty-Seven | October 20

Are You Dangerous?

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
—Joshua 1:9

When God calls us out of sin’s bondage, He invites us into a journey—a journey with Him as our Captain, leading us into the promised purpose of our future. As we follow Him, He will stretch us and expand the boundaries of our vision.

Jim Elliot, the missionary martyred while reaching the Auca Indians in Ecuador, once asked a powerful question: “Am I dangerous?” If we’re honest, many of us are not. We may live quiet, respectable lives. We profess to know the power of God—but often live as though that power is just a concept. We coach from the sidelines while others fight the battles. We criticize, comment, or withdraw while the enemies of God go unchallenged. We’ve become spiritual pacifists, conscientious objectors in a war against darkness.

The world doesn’t hate us—because we’re too much like it. Oh, that God would make us dangerous again.

How do we become people who shake the gates of hell and advance the Kingdom of God?

According to Joshua 1, the path is clear:

  • Choose to be strong.
  • Choose to be courageous.
  • Choose to be obedient.

Spend time in Joshua 1. Write down every command God gives Joshua. Reflect on how those words align with what the Lord is calling you to do today.

Reflection Question:

Would the enemy consider you a threat? What steps can you take today to become more spiritually bold, courageous, and obedient?

Prayer Focus:

Pray 2 Chronicles 15:7 over Gateway: “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” Ask the Lord to make us bold as a church—full of strength, courage, and radical obedience. Then pray the same for yourself: “God, make me spiritually dangerous—for Your glory.”
