Don’t Drop Out of the Battle

“In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me, ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain’?”
—Psalm 11:1

During World War II, Corrie ten Boom and her family risked everything to hide Jewish refugees from the Nazis in their home in the Netherlands. Eventually, Corrie was arrested and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, a place of immense suffering.

Despite the physical and emotional wounds she endured—brutal conditions, loss of family, and overwhelming hardship—Corrie refused to give up on the battle for faith and hope. After the war, she became a powerful witness for God’s grace and forgiveness, traveling the world to share the message of Christ’s love even in the darkest circumstances.

Her story reminds us that the Christian life is not a sprint but a battle that requires endurance. Like Corrie, many believers face wounds—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual—that tempt them to quit. But Scripture encourages us to take refuge in the Lord and keep running the race He’s set before us.

In Psalm 11:1, the psalmist asks, “How then can you say to me, ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain’?” God calls us not to run away but to stand firm in the fight.

Reflection Question:

What wounds or hardships are you facing that threaten to make you give up? How can you draw strength from God’s presence and promises to keep going?

Prayer Focus:

Pray that Gateway will persevere with courage and faith through every challenge. Ask God to show you someone you can encourage to keep fighting the good fight today. Remember, God is our refuge and strength in every battle.
