Don’t Stop Short Of Your Dreams

“The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered.” Genesis 39:2a

In 1930, two brothers, Dick and Maurice McDonald, moved from New Hampshire to California chasing the American dream. After some setbacks, they hit their stride with a small drive-in restaurant. By the mid-1950s, they were pulling in $350,000 a year, splitting $100,000 in profits—a solid success

.

You might think the story ends there—but the best was yet to come. In 1954, Ray Kroc saw something the brothers didn’t: massive potential. He bought the exclusive rights to McDonald’s in 1961 for $2.7 million. Today, McDonald’s boasts over 42,000 restaurants worldwide and pulls in annual revenues of $26 billion.

The takeaway?

  • Don’t stop short of your God-given dream.
  • Don’t let someone else out-dream you.
  • And don’t let anyone else finish your dream for you.

Joseph is a powerful example for dreamers. Genesis 39 teaches us:

  • God is with us in every step (v. 2, 21, 23).
  • God sees everything we do (v. 9).
  • God can turn bitter experiences into blessings (v. 21-23).

Reflection Question:

Where have I pulled back from God's dream for my life—and what would it look like to re-engage with faith?

Prayer Focus:

Pray that Gateway will chase its God-given dream with full passion and faith. Ask that this dream leads to more lives transformed by Christ. Reflect on your own journey—are there places where you’ve stopped short of God’s best? Pray for boldness to press forward.
