Expectations

*For instrumentalists and vocalists.

Each team member is required to:

  • Be a born-again Christian.
  • Be a member of Gateway.
  • Be called to join the Worship Team.
  • Complete an interview with the worship pastor
  • Complete an audition.*
  • Be at least 16 years old.
  • Attend required rehearsals/services.
  • Be able to read chord charts (instrumentalists).
  • Be able to harmonize and sing lead (vocalists).

Preparation

What you can expect:

  • Set lists at least a week before rehearsal.
  • Sets will include chords, lyrics, and recordings.


What's expected of you:

  • Come spiritually prepared to rehearsals, sound checks and services.
  • Know your parts before rehearsal.*
  • Practice all songs for one hour before your scheduled ministry time.*
  • Strive to commit songs to memory so you won’t be dependent on charts during services.*
  • AV Team members should familiarize themselves with songs prior to rehearsal.


How often will you lead?

  • Our goal is one to two Sundays a month in all Sunday services.
  • Special events as consistent with our mission.

What should you wear on the platform?

  • Dress in a style you’re comfortable in.
  • Make sure your clothes are neat, clean, in good repair, and appropriate for our environment.
  • Dress with modesty. For example, exposed cleavage or very tight pants are not acceptable.


Participation in worship services

  • Attend worship at Gateway at least 3 Sundays a month, whether you are serving or not.
  • Attend one full service on Sundays you lead.


Rehearsals

What you can expect:

  • Thursday Rehearsal:
  • Vocals: 6:30-7 p.m.
  • Band: 6:30-7 p.m.
  • Devotional: 7-7:15 p.m.
  • Combined: 7:15-8:30 p.m.
  • Run through: Sunday, 7-7:45 a.m. unless otherwise notified.
  • Hard work, a fun environment, relationship building, and discipleship.
  • Notification one month in advance of extra rehearsals/sound checks for special events, etc.


What's expected of you:

  • All scheduled vocalists, band members, and audio engineers for the week are required to attend Thursday rehearsal.
  • All scheduled team members are required to attend Sunday run through.
  • Be set up, warmed up, and ready to begin by the scheduled start time.
  • A positive attitude.


Scheduling

  • All scheduling is done online via Planning Center and will be communicated via email and/or the Planning Center Services mobile app.
  • It’s important to check the schedule in case an email doesn’t arrive.
  • Our goal is to have enough team members for a one-Sunday-a-month rotation.
  • Block out unavailable dates in Planning Center.
  • Enter expected absences into Planning Center no less than one week prior to rehearsal.
  • If you’re available for Sunday but not rehearsal, consider this to mean you are unavailable for Sunday.
  • If something comes up and there’s still time, try to find a replacement.
  • Notify your team leader immediately of emergency absences.
